my MISSION
Hello, my name is Mark Murbach and I’m an oil painter located in Fort Collins, Colorado. My passion is to experience the world and share the beauty of nature by capturing its endless fleeting moments through my art. I deeply believe appreciation for nature is the key that most people are missing to live a happy and fulfilled life. With the care and keen attention I put into my studio and outdoor (en plein air) artworks, I can only hope to capture each peaceful escape for you to experience in your own space.
Life before art
Born in the western suburbs of Chicago, IL in 1996, I grew up with little to no exposure to art at home or in school. As an athlete through my high school years I never had time to explore any formal art classes. However, I had an early appreciation for nature and breathtaking mountain landscapes thanks to a couple of family ski vacations to Breckenridge and Keystone, CO, and camping vacations in Michigan and Wisconsin.
Through my college years in Boston, MA, I discovered Bob Ross’ “Joy of Painting” show as an outlet and welcome distraction from studying and the constant bustle of living in the city. Eventually, on February 1, 2019 I picked up a brush and painted along with Bob Ross for the first time. Since, I have developed my own style and technique, including an obsession with painting live on location. Nothing compares to to capturing each little moment and memory of a particular place, time, season, etc.
